Quick tips to make more sales online without BREAKING the SEO Bank

10 Simple Things to help improve and make more sales online today!

1) Is your site’s banner taking up a large portion of vertical space?

The content above the fold (the part visible before you have to scroll down) is the most valuable area on your site.

Thousands of tests prove that visitors who have to scroll to get the information they are looking for – leave in a **nano second,

**POOF** GONE! You never get the chance to show why you’re the best! and you will never have the opportunity to make more sales online from that customer.

Use a top banner if it says clearly what you are about, phone or contact, or points out your unique selling points. Make sure it isn’t dominating that “above the fold” valuable real estate area. Don’t Puss-out for prettiness. Consider removing or remaking and resizing your top banner. Remember having a useful site is much more valuable to a visitor than just a pretty site.

2) Name and mission of your site – are these immediately visible?
Can the reader tell right away what your site is about?

Can the reader do this both on home page and internal pages?

3) Is content above the fold?
The “above the fold” area is what you see on screen without having to scroll down the page – this is what most people will see. We touched on this lightly a moment ago. Avoid having too many ads or other non-content elements pushing down your main content below visibility.

This is a key factor to watch if you want to make more sales online.

Most people will NOT scroll unless they first read something that interests them!

4) Is your layout clean and professional looking?
Do you have a thousand things screaming for your visitors attention?

Sort related items together, and remove – chuck- burn- throw away all that is not. – less is more from a user’s viewpoint remember it’s for them, not you.

5) Know me -Like me -Trust me.
Make sure you have a quality “About page” that is up to date. Remember to provide some real information about you or the folks behind your business. Be personable. You’re a real person.. so are they.
Provide easy to find information about where you are located or where you can be reached – offer alternative ways get and keep in touch with you. such as Facebook, Twitter, Linked-in YouTube etc. Remember to also give credit for all images and other content sources you may have cited or re-used in your content.

6) Navigation – Can visitors easily find relevant content on your site?
On internal content pages, how easy it is for the reader to easily find more related, relevant content on the same topic as the one she has just read?

Are you naming your content categories in a clear and consistent way? Having too many catigories, and not naming them effectively can really penalize your visibility on search engines.

7) Where are my Glasses? -Content Legibility
Make your content highly readable and optimized for screen reading.

Use lots of chunking and employ bold and links to highlight key points.

Use a larger font size unless your readers are all teens.

8) Keywords in titles and SEO factors
The way you name your web site pages and articles is very important for strong pulling SEO power. To get your site to pull in more Organic Traffic don’t use “newspaper like” attention getting phrases for your page names.

Instead, Keyword target what users are searching for.
You can use Google keyword tools to find out the best performing keywords. in a Google search type in ” Google keyword tool “

9) Get the word out! by Distributing your site across the internet.
This is called Content Distribution: Make sure you provide above-the-fold, easy to see and access buttons for subscribing to your content by both email or RSS.

10) Finally – Do you want them leaving your site? NO!
Avoid having too many advertising areas on your page. Visitors prefer a calm and focused experience without a lot of distractions. We’re kinda ADD like that!

Integrate ads so they look like they are a part of the content. Don’t just throw them there. Design the space around them and make them appear integrated within your page design. Instead of being an interruption try to make them relevant and a valuable resource for your visitors to check out.

Getting Started With Online Marketing 101

If you’re looking to get your first online marketing efforts going, there is no time like the present to get started. With so much business generating from online and mobile searches, if you don’t have an online marketing strategy in place, you’re already behind the curve.

Fortunately for you, we have the six essential online marketing steps that you need to take in order to get your campaign and efforts up and running in no time.

Six Vital Online Marketing Steps for Internet Marketing Success

Regardless of your product, service or overall intended outcome, these eight steps to online marketing success will help you bring your goals to fruition, from inception to the market, helping you increase your bottom line by bolstering your online sales.

1. Defining a Keyword Strategy. In the most simple explanation of how online marketing works, people use keywords to find your site which increases your sales. Of course, it’s much more complicated than that, but that does give you a sense of just how important your keyword strategy is. Keywords are the words that people type into search engines to find what they are looking for. If you’re a dog grooming company in Boise, some of your keywords will be “Boise” and “dog grooming”. But because you’re probably not the only groomer in Boise, you’re going to have competition out there for those keywords. That’s where your keyword strategy comes into play. The goal here is to find keywords that have a high search volume but low competition. This means that people are searching for these keywords, but your competition hasn’t optimized their sites for those words. By using keyword tools such as Google Keyword Planner from AdWords or Wordstream’s keyword tool (both free), you can research and plan your keyword strategy effectively.

2. Optimizing your Website to Increase your Online Presence. Once you have your keywords, it’s time to use them in order to optimize your website. Optimizing simply means creating a website that is more easily found by search engines. To do this, you’ll need to sprinkle your keywords throughout the content on your page, including video titles, tag lines, your URL, alternative text, in your subtitles, etc. Basically, you want the keywords to show up so that when a query is entered, when a search engine crawls your site and indexes your pages, it will understand that your site is relevant to those keywords, and in turn, your potential customers. The search engine will then direct traffic to your site, thus increasing the chances that you make a sale, which is the goal of online marketing.

3. Creating a Blog and Content Marketing. Part of the content on your site that can be keyword optimized will be your blogs. Blogs are a form of content marketing, or content that has the specific goal of driving sales. In fact, all content on your site should be driving sales as per online marketing 101, but it should also present some value to your viewers. This will keep them interested as well as attach value to your product, service or good. Plus, blogs have a few additional benefits such as creating fresh content (which helps you rank higher and stay relevant in the eyes of search engines and customers) and having the ability to go viral. An item that goes viral (most likely through social media, but sometimes email and other mediums), will increase the reach of your brand and message.

4. Promoting your Content through Social Media. Social media is a huge and free online marketing platform that is a must-have for anybody looking to increase their online sales. If you aren’t on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and Pinterest already, you need to be by the end of the day. Social media allows you to connect and interact with fans and clients, tailoring and delivering your branded message for free while creating more in-roads to your website and keeping you fresh in the minds of your customers-and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The bottom line is that social media is the most popular online marketing tool nowadays.

5. Turning Leads into Conversions. Once you have leads coming into your site, you want to have a sales funnel structure that constantly pulls customers further towards making a purchase/signing up/downloading/etc. This is vital to the success of your online marketing efforts. To do this, your website should provide an easy-to-use customer experience that doesn’t distract them from the final goal (the conversion). The customer should receive increasing value at each step of the way, further pulling them into the sales funnel. The site should also make it clear what the customer should do through the use of clear and concise calls to action.

6. Analyzing and Refining Your Strategies. Finally, you need to constantly monitor, analyze and refine your online marketing strategies. You can do this through a number of free sites such as Google Analytics and Google Webmaster. Monitoring how successful your site is by analyzing your keyword strategy’s effectiveness and metrics such as your bounce rate will allow you to change and refine your online marketing strategies as you go, with the ultimate goal of optimizing your traffic and conversions in mind. You want your message to get more and more targeted to reach the exact customer base that you need to in order to maximize sales, the overall goal of all online marketing.

Furthering your Online Marketing Efforts for More Success

After you’ve implemented these six online marketing steps, most of your groundwork for online marketing success will be laid. Of course, it’s important that you understand online marketing is an ongoing effort-there is no passive action that can lead to true internet marketing success. You have to constantly analyze and refine your marketing campaign strategies, as well as provide fresh content if you want to stay relevant in your niche.

And while there are both simple and complicated ways to do these things, the bottom line is that they need to get done. Which path you take depends on your online marketing goals and the time and energy you wish to spend. Of course, you can always outsource these jobs, but regardless of whether you want others to do them for you or you want to handle everything yourself to cut down on expenses, there are some key points for moving forward with your online marketing efforts that you need to understand.

Boost Your Online Sales With Long Tail Marketing

Years ago, when I first heard the phrase ‘Long Tail Marketing’ I did a double take and wondered what the heck the phrase was referring to? Little did I know then how important a factor it would play in the overall success of my online websites. I first heard of Long Tail Marketing from Chris Knight who runs EzineArticles.com, an online article site which is ranked around the Top 500 sites on the Internet. EzineArticles had also sent over 50 thousand unique visitors to my main website so I knew any marketing information coming from Chris was the real deal.

Unfortunately, when you run several sites on Internet marketing you are constantly bombarded with online marketing products, techniques and the latest marketing fads… you become very cynical of the latest trends. I only half-heartily started testing Longer Keyword marketing — huge mistake — for I immediately started seeing results with my online sales. Just wish I had paid more attention to Chris’s advice on Long Tail marketing and implemented it sooner in my overall marketing strategy.

It has made all the difference in the profitability of my websites. The reasons why are explained below, as well as a detailed description of Long-Tail Marketing and how you can use it to boost or increase your online sales.

Don’t make my initial mistake, discover everything you can about Long Tail Marketing and start using it in your own marketing.

What is Long Tail Marketing?

Long Tail Marketing refers to the technique or method of using a long string of keywords when targeting prospective buyers. Instead of using/targeting one or two single keywords in your online marketing – you use a longer keyword phrase or a whole group of related keywords; thus the name, a long tail or string of keywords.

Perhaps, the best way to explain this type of marketing is to use a simple example. Lets say you have a travel business and you have an online site associated with your business. Instead of targeting the keyword ‘vacations’ which will be very competitive and very hard to place on the first page SERPs in the major search engines such as Google, MSN, Yahoo… now with Long Tail Marketing, instead of targeting the broader competitive keyword ‘vacations’, you target a longer, more precise phrase: ‘honeymoon vacation packages to Niagara Falls’.

Keep in mind that keywords are the exact words surfers type into search engines to find what they’re looking for on the web. You can plainly see that the second keyword phrase is more targeted than the general keyword ‘vacations’.

Why Is Long Tail Marketing So Effective?

There are several reasons why this type of marketing is so effective. It has narrowed down and targeted exactly what the prospective buyer is searching for. It is precisely the product or service that they intend to buy. It’s only a matter of you selling it to them.

But more importantly, by using Long Tail Marketing, you have found the prospective buyer at the exact time or stage when they are ready to buy. You have found them at the right moment in their buying process — they have made up their minds to exactly what they want and are just looking for a quality product or service to meet their needs. You satisfy their needs with a quality product or service.

Lets look at an example from my own marketing, I run a simple online laptop guide within one of my sites. Instead of targeting the very competitive and unreachable general keyword ‘laptops’, I go for a longer keyword phrase such as ‘best gaming laptops’. And the even more targeted ‘Alienware Aurora m7700’ — someone searching for the last keyword phrase more than likely has already decided on what type of gaming laptop they want to buy. This last keyword phrase is much more likely to convert into a sale.

How Do I Use Long Tail Marketing With My Site?

Remember back to when you last bought something online, what keywords did you use to find it? If you have an online business, you must target the keyword phrases your customers would use to find your product or service. You have to find these keyword phrases and use them in your marketing.

Most professional marketers use some type of keyword software to research their keywords and keyword phrases. I use the very powerful Keyword Elite by Brad Callen and it quickly gives me all the keyword information I need to put my Long Tail Marketing into place.

But this software is expensive, so another alternative would be to use such sites as Wordtracker or the one I like http://www.nichebot.com, it will tell you how many searches are made each month for your chosen keyword phrase and give you some indication of your competition.

The real beauty of using Long Tail keywords — there is little or no competition for your keywords. You will find it easier to place on the first page of the different search engine for your targeted phrase. If you do Pay-Per-Click advertising, you will save on costs by using Long Tail keywords. Plus, both your conversion rate and ROI will be higher.

Marketing Tip: Always create a page on your site for each Long Tail keyword phrase you target, place it in the title and the URL. Plus, if you write articles, place your keyword phrase in the title of your article and syndicate your articles around the web using sites like EzineArticles.com mentioned above.

Of course, all income results from Long Tail Marketing or any marketing method will depend on your own effects and marketing abilities. No one can guarantee sales but I hope you will give Long Tail Marketing a go. It is simple, direct and effective.

Long Tail Marketing has made all the difference in how profitable my sites have become. It is the one marketing method I use daily and plan to use for years to come. In fact, Long Tail Marketing has become the backbone of my whole online business. Go figure!
